China–Indonesia Academic Exchange: Advancing Minimally Invasive Colorectal Care | Wello Medical
Bridging Borders and Joining Forces in Minimally Invasive Care
From April 26 to 30, 2026, the China–Indonesia International Academic Conference on Colorectal and Anorectal Medicine, jointly initiated by Wello Medical and Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University, was held as scheduled in Guangzhou. Following careful preparations, four senior Indonesian specialists in colorectal and anorectal medicine travelled to China for the event. The two sides engaged in an in-depth and dynamic academic dialogue centered on precision-based, standardized, and minimally invasive treatment of hemorrhoidal disease.
Putting Practice First: Clinical Expertise in the Operating Room
The value of academic exchange ultimately lies in its impact on clinical outcomes. With hands-on practice as its central focus, the five-day program featured intensive surgical exchanges and outpatient clinic observation in the Department of Colorectal and Anorectal Surgery at Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University.
From precise preoperative planning and refined minimally invasive techniques to the presentation of an enhanced postoperative recovery pathway, Wello medical’s technical personnel and the Chinese expert team demonstrated the management workflow for complex cases on site. The Indonesian specialists entered the operating room and closely observed the stability and precision of Wello medical’s anorectal ligation stapler featuring controlled tightening of the elastic band during practical use. They also engaged in an extensive discussion on approaches to managing unexpected intraoperative situations. During the outpatient observation sessions, the Indonesian delegation spoke highly of Nanfang Hospital’s efficient consultation process under standardized workflow management and its patient-centered approach to care.

Advancing Theory: Elevating the Three-Pronged Treatment Approach
In addition to immersive clinical practice, the conference featured an expert lecture titled “Precision-Based, Standardized, and Minimally Invasive Treatment of Hemorrhoidal Disease.” Drawing on extensive clinical data and representative cases, Chinese academic representatives provided a systematic account of how technological innovation can integrate precise diagnosis, standardized procedures, and minimally invasive healing. During the sessions, both sides exchanged views on such key topics as regional and ethnic differences in the spectrum of colorectal and anorectal diseases and strategies for postoperative pain management, generating valuable insights through vibrant academic discussion.
Cultural Exchange and a Firsthand Look at China’s Medical Capabilities
As an important part of the academic program, the Indonesian delegation made a special visit to Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University, an institution with a rich academic and clinical heritage. From its modern smart operating rooms to its advanced management and service philosophy, the delegation gained a profound appreciation of the outstanding achievements of China’s leading medical institutions in standardized and intelligent healthcare development. The visit further strengthened the foundation for future cooperation between the two sides in research and clinical translation.
